AIRSOFT MIKE

AIRSOFT REVOLVERS AND WHY!
The Airsoft Revolver! Literally one of the closest things you can get to the real thing without the associated expense or strict restrictions (in the UK).
Let me start by giving you my top 5 Airsoft revolvers.
1. Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 Competitor / Co2
I go into a "slightly" in-depth reason why it’s number one for me, at the bottom of this list.
2. Ares S&W 686 2-inch Co2 Revolver Silver /Co2
I just love that it stands out in a crowded market of Airsoft revolvers because of its beautiful almost flawless silver finish and real wooden grips! Yes, it has real wooden grips! Very rare in the Airsoft world of revolvers.
3. ASG Wingun Schofield 6 / Co2
This made my top five because it has a very nice weathered finish and has that very cool feature of being a top break revolver! One of only about two in my revolver collection that does that. An honorary mention for a much-loved revolver in my collection... the Webley MKVI by Win Gun.
4. Elite Force H8R / Co2
The reason for this being in my top five is simple. Cheap, powerful and a reputable brand.
5. Umarex Colt Python 357 Magnum Chrome (Wild card!)
This one shouldn’t really be in my top five because strictly speaking, it’s not an airsoft revolver, but does take plastic BBs, the 4.5mm variety, as well as the designated 4.5mm steel ones. However, the only reason it made it in to my top five, is because it has the best silver/chrome finish, I have ever seen on a revolver in my life! Go check out my review on it, and it has the real steel trades!
MY NUMBER ONE UMAREX SMITH & WESSON 629 COMPETITOR
My list above should not come as a surprise if you are a regular viewer of my YouTube channel.
My all-time favourite revolver is a latecomer to my collection and went straight to the top when I finally laid hands on it. The sheer beefiness of it, the weight, the modern design and the faithful reproduction of the real steel 629 Competitor is next level!
I love that they did not cut corners when it came to replicating the little individual weights beneath the barrel. They could have just fabricated the look of the real one, but they didn’t! They reproduced the weights that you can remove, just like the real steel!
Another reason why I love this model so much, is that it looks just as beefy and intimidating as any other handgun on the market. You see, I always had a misguided feeling of inferiority when or if I rock up to gameplay with a “Western” or “old-skool” looking revolver when other players arrive with a “tacticool looking” Glock or any other “cool looking” pistol. (Note: I have a ton of tacticool pistols at my disposal, but sometimes I want to be a modern day, Harry! 😅).
Old-skool looking revolver? Not so with this bad boy! This thing makes almost all other pistols look like child’s play. Yes, you can only load six cartridges at a time, but I just get that feeling of “Ha! Look at your puny little pistol and behold my epic looking S&W 629 Competitor!”
Now, if you get one these, because why not? And you got one just for the looks, the feel and for plinking purposes, then what is there not to love about it! However, if you buy one because you want to use it for Airsoft gameplay, then just like most Airsoft Co2 revolvers on the market, this model will frustrate the hell out of you because of the overly powerful Joules/FPS that this thing kicks out.
I still don’t understand why most Airsoft manufacturers produce Airsoft revolvers that they know cannot be used for gameplay out of the box. Thankfully, there are solutions, but sometimes these solutions are also problematic!
There are cartridges/shells called Power down shells that restrict the flow of Co2 that pushes the BB out of the shell; however, some power down shells either power down way too much, or literally start to fall apart because of the sheer force of the Co2 it is trying to restrict. I shall mention no names, however, go check out my review of the Umarex 629 Classic, November 25th 2025. Oops, I just mentioned the name. 😂
